Our interdisciplinary study team consists of psychosocial oncology, microbiology, and biostatistics experts, as well as cancer survivors who understand the cancer experience. We are committed to finding ways to improve the cancer survivorship experience!

Research Assistant
Raèf Mina
Raèf holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology and is presently a research assistant on several studies at the division of psychosocial oncology at the University of Calgary

Co-investigator
Dr. Raylene Reimer
Dr. Reimer is a professor in the faculties of Kinesiology and Medicine at the University of Calgary.

Co-investigator
Dr. Safiya Karim
Dr. Safiya Karim is a clinical assistant professor and medical oncologist at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. She holds an MD from the University of Calgary and her clinical focus is in gastrointestinal and genitourinary cancers.

Patient Advisor
Bill Richardson
Bill is a head and neck cancer survivor who has been working as a Patient Advisor since 2016. He joined the Chemo-Gut Probiotic Trial as an opportunity to combine his interest in patient-oriented cancer research and his academic background in microbiology.

Dr. Oluwaseyi Lawal
Dr. Oluwaseyi holds a Ph.D. in Biostatistics with over seven years of dedicated experience in health research and collaborative projects.

Jamie Petersson
Jamie holds a masters in neuroscience and is presently a PhD student in Medical Sciences, focusing on the gut microbiome.
